Cingjing to Hehuanshan Sunrise Tour
Waking up at 3am (or earlier to get ready and catch the bus) to journey up the Hehuanshan mountain is an extraordinary experience and a must visit for Cingjing tourists. Half day tours from Cingjing to Hehuanshan can be arranged simply at your hotel, but subject to availability. Or you can book directly with the tour bus operator.

About Hehuanshan or Hehuan Mountain
3,400m elevation above sea level, the mountain range has a lot to offer with the magnificent scenery and caters to adventurous cyclists, hikers and nature lovers as well as tourists from the hotels or minsu in Nantou or Cingjing heading up for a half day ride to Hehuanshan to catch the sunrise.
Arranging Transportation in Advance for your Hehuanshan Tour
Transport from Cingjing to Hehuanshan is the most popular among tourists although some travel via Taroko Gorge or from Sun Moon Lake as well.
The easiest way as mentioned would be to pre-book from the hotel or minsu at Cingjing as many of these operators work with the local tours for bookings. The tour buses run a fixed route and starts pretty early for star gazing and then moving on to catch the sunrise. Per pax cost for such tours are about NT400 and some contacts can be found on forums sites and blogs. Here's a forum post on tripadvisor that comes in handy.
For those who prefer a more customized journey, taxis are available at Cingjing for booking as well or simply use the itinerary planner on ownrides.com to book the Cingjing to Hehuanshan trip in advance (request also for English speaking drivers if required). Ownrides has a travel planner for bookings from Taichung or Taipei to Cingjing and Sun Moon Lake. It is customizable so you probably would want to add in other destinations and request for the Mount Hehuan sunrise viewing to be included as well! Pricing is transparent but do also check out forums for other cab drivers recommended there as well.
